LG Quantum – A Powerful Smartphone Featuring Microsoft Windows Phone 7

LG Quantum is a Microsoft Windows Phone 7 powered cell phone available for AT&T. It supports GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 Mhz band 2G networks and HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 Mhz 3G networks. Lets have a look at some of its key features and specifications,

Processor and Operating System:
The cell phone runs on a high speed Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8650 1 GHz processor and has 256 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM. It is one of the first phones to feature Microsoft’s latest Windows Phone 7 operating system. You surely won’t be disappointed with the processing speed and the software of the phone.

Size and Display:
LG Quantum offers a 3.5 inches TFT capacitive touchscreen display which is smaller than some of the other smartphones in the market. However, it is bright and vibrant and has a resolution of 480 X 800 pixels. The screen can display upto 16 million colors and supports multi-touch inputs. A QWERTY keyboard slides out to the right of the phone which is definitely better for typing messages than onscreen keyboards. Like most phones nowadays, this handset also comes with an accelerometer sensor for user interface auto-rotate and proximity sensor for automatically turning off the display.

Data Transfer:
The phone supports Class 10 GPRS with speeds of 32-48 kbps, Class 10 EDGE with speeds upto 236.8 kbps for 2G networks. For high speed 3G networks, HSDPA and HSUPA are supported. Users can also access wireless networks through Wi-Fi with DLNA. Other options include Bluetooth version 2.1 with A2DP and microUBS version 2.0.

Camera:
LG Quantum has an excellent 5 megapixel camera. High resolution images upto 2592 X 1944 pixels can be taken as well as high definition videos of 720 pixels. An LED flash allows users to take images even during night or low light conditions. Other features of the camera include digital zoom, autofocus, geo-tagging, etc. However, there is no secondary camera for video conferencing.

Applications:
The handset comes preloaded with a variety of applications. A MP4/H.264/H.263/WMV video player and MP3/WAV/WMA/eAAC+ music player is available for listening to songs or watching videos. Stereo FM radio is also supported. For accessing the internet, a HTML web browser application is provided. Office work such as viewing/editing files can be done using the Microsoft Office app. Other applications on the phone include digital compass, organizer, voice memo, games, calculator, calender, alarm clock, etc.
